Introduction
The SNMP Managed Media Converter Chassis provides 16/12/8/5 slots and one management system in a 19"-rack chassis. The SNMP management function enables network administrators to monitor/ manage media converter connection status and configure the media converter via an SNMP agent, Telnet or Web browser remotely or locally via an RS-232 console port. Moreover, the management features are providing full status information on the individual media converter's ports. The redundant AC or -48VDC power supplies provide extra fault tolerance for users with critical applications requiring maximum uptime.
Dax Media converter chassis allows the connection of 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet Media up to sixteen Converters in one chassis. It has auto negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX cable selection. It translates transmission signals from a twisted-pair 10Base-T or 100Base-TX cable to 100Base-FX fiber optic cable. The Dax Media Converter chassis expands the number of the ports and be managed by the management system Dax-view-MC.
Management Ability
The Media Converter is unmanaged/managed selectable. It is provided with a management card which consists of one RS232 port for console management, and one RJ45 port for network management. The chassis has the capability to support management via Console, WEB and SNMP. The chassis is provided with MIB file which makes it easy to be integrated into the third party SNMP management software.
Redundancy
The chassis offers 2 slide-in power supply which supports redundant backup for power availability. The cooling agent fan module ensures the reliability of the chassis. They are provided 4 in number during installation. The software loaded in the chassis shows the detailed information of the power supply, including AC/DC type and the running status.s
