Introduction Dax Masterplan Comprehensive Network Management (NM) System is a solution which is aimed at integrated network management functions ranging from network element (NE) level to network level. This system is to be installed in service management layer and will offer integrated management solution to the broadband and narrowband equipment of the entire network. Masterplan Comprehensive Network Management System adopts client/server open system structure, which consists of background service management module, workstation, server and various service modules. Its management objects include all the equipment accessed the network. The maintenance functions of Masterplan Comprehensive Network Management System are provided according to ISO standard, which covers five functions: performance management, configuration management, security management, failure management and accounting management. Comprehensive monitoring capacity User can customize polling strategy to realize comprehensive analysis of network performance. System summarizes and calculates key statistic data, so as to provide high-level reference and threshold value control. Linking with event center can record exceptional cases shown during performance monitoring. Centralized management of software and configuration files as well as multipoint backup/download is convenient for software upgrading and backup configuration.
Performance / Prospective automatic failure management Through customizing polling policy, the user can achieve comprehensive performance analysis of the network. The function of performance/fault management provides abundant real-time curve charts and threshold control, and so the user can visually and quickly know the traffic and working status of each interface; at the same time, the function also provides the powerful print function of curve chart and polling data report. The function provides the real-time alarm, device log and system, so that SNMP alarm information can be stored into database by sort. And the user can filter, locate and add up many kinds of alarm information to exactly get the network fault.
Realize the classified storage of SNMP Trap and Syslog, users can screen, position and count various alarm and log information, and acquire network failure accurately.
Attached with multiple auxiliary tools such as Ping, TraceRoute, SNMP Debug etc., which can diagnose line, equipment and software failures for the convenience of analyzing the cause of failures. MIB Polling Through MIB polling service of Masterplan, the user can customize the polling policy to achieve comprehensive performance analysis of the network. The system induces and computes the key statistical data as to provide the user with high-level reference and threshold control. Plenty of real-time curve charts provided by MIB polling can make the user to know many aspects of performance statuses in a time segment.
MIB polling configuration has two kinds of working mode: pooling all interfaces or pooling a single interface. From the main menu, the user can click "Performance/Fault management"> "MIP polling configuration" to enter the polling configuration interface. Through selecting different option, he can poll the performance parameters from all interfaces and a single interface; or he can select an interface on the topology interface layer and use "mib Poller At interface"in the pop-up menu to poll the interface; or he can use the pop-up menu of topo device to poll all interfaces. The difference of the three modes is the export mode, namely the different default polling mode, and the user can change it according to the demand.
On the main interface, the user can know the device name and address of the configured MIB polling, as well as the current polling status of the device. Through the button on the downside of the main interface, the user can add, delete, examine, modify, start and suspend the polling configuration in MasterplanMIB polling configuration.
MIBs polling can be done for the following MIBs: SNMP MIB extensions, MIB-II, EtherLike MIB, Bridging MIB, RMON MIB, Ping MIB, and other private MIBs. Provide rich event report
Flow Control and Statistics
AAA component provides perfect AAA function through RADIUS/TACACS+ protocol. Such component is used in combination with NAS equipment to do authentication, authorization and accounting on network users, and provides user access management.
For equipment and interface having statistic requirement, it can offer time- or flow-based statistics, and when used in combination with rate setup, one can acquire the accounting information conveniently.
IP telephone auditing and accounting, which can help know various records of IP telephone for the convenience of managing the traffic. Data information can be printed into various kinds of statements through open interface. Intelligent exploration and automatic network studying ability Use advanced topological search algorithm to discover network nodes automatically, and use various icons and link objects to emulate the topology of the entire network and use different colors and graphical effects to reflect the status of equipment.
Can identify most of other manufacturers' products that support SNMP and mark them with explicit identification.
Users can partition the topological graph, divide the user view and use various other edit functions, making the software system in compliance with various work requirements.
Automatically refresh the status of various objects, so that the network topological graph and its sub graph can fully reflect the real-time state.
When used in combination with user view function, it can store the topological graph separately for each administrator without any cross influence.
High compatibility and integration Masterplan can manage NM equipment produced by most of the manufacturers and its functions include failure management, performance management, AAA management etc.
Masterplan can be integrated with some of other NM platform, such as HP OpenView, IBM/Tivoli NetView and CiscoWorks.
